CSA Terms & Policies


Weekly delivery runs 20 weeks - April through August. Our target start date is April 10th, 2019, although it might vary a week or two depending on the weather.

We deliver boxes to your home on Wednesdays between 2-7pm.

Each box usually contains 5-8 vegetables.We grow over 100 different varieties of vegetables & herbs here on the farm, intended to give you a wide selection of offerings. One box is generally enough to feed 1-3 people each week.

Here are a couple examples of what a box might look like:

  • 1/2 lb. bag of Spinach, 1 Head Lettuce, 1 bunch of Beets, 1 bunch of Carrots, 1/2 pint of Microgreens, 2 heads of Green Garlic

  • 1/2 lb. bag of Salad Mix, 1 pint of Cherry Tomatoes, 1 bunch of Parsley, 2 lbs of Cucumbers, 1 pint of Snack Peppers

Box CUstomization

You have the ability to customize your box each week. You also have the ability to purchase additional produce from our online store. We open our online store every Saturday morning at 8am. You have until Sunday night at midnight to pick & choose what we will harvest & pack for you that week.

You do not have to customize your box. If you choose not to customize your box one week or every week, you will receive a ‘Farmer’s Choice’ box (which we guarantee will also be filled with the best & freshest of what’s available on the farm).

Boxes are valued at $20 of produce each week. You are welcome to spend more than this, and you’ll automatically be charged via Paypal. If you spend less than your weekly box value, any extra credits do not carry over week by week.

*Produce availability will vary throughout the seasons. We do our best to offer a wide selection of products every week, especially greens & salad veggies. See our What We Grow page for more. Due to the nature of farming, there might be some weeks were product diversity is limited. If there is a limited supply, our online store allocates products to members on a first come first serve basis.


It costs $530 for 20 weeks of deliveries. Every week you get $20 worth of produce, delivered to your door for a $5 fee. There is also a $30 surcharge per season, our ‘Membership fee’, which helps us cover the cost of our CSA software.

Members who pick up their share at any of our three pick-up locations, receive a $100 discount.

We accept payment via check or Paypal. Checks can be mailed to Humble Umbel Farm - 9917 Allison Rd. Cedar Grove, NC 27231.

You can either pay the full amount up front or you can pay in four installments. Paying up front is a huge help to the farm, it helps us purchase seeds and supplies at the beginning of the season. Please do so if you can. If you pay in installments, the first is due when you sign up and the subsequent installments are due on the first of the months after (May 1, June 1, and July 1).

We understand that supporting a CSA can be a big financial commitment. If you need financial assistance, don’t hesitate to email us at info@humbleumbelfarm.com and we’ll work something out with you.

Share & Save- If you find a friend or coworker who is willing to share the same delivery location- you & the friend receive $50 off. If you recommend our CSA to a friend & they sign up (regardless of their delivery location)- you receive a $20 coupon, redeemable on our online store or at our farmer’s market booth. Email us & we’ll send you a coupon code!

Home Or Office DElivery

Deliveries are made on Wednesdays between 2-7pm. We can delivery to your home, office, or business place in Hillsborough, Durham, Chapel Hill, Carrboro, Apex, or Cary. It is not necessary that you’re present during drop off hours (although we’d love to see your smiling face). CSA boxes can be left in a cooler on your porch or other shady location.

Pick-up Locations

  • On the Farm- Wednesdays, 2-7pm* Located at 4909 Walnut Grove Church Rd. Hurdle Mills, NC 27541

  • Hillsborough- Wednesdays, 2-6:30pm* Located at Two Chicks Farm, 155 Boone Square Street

All delivery fees are waived for members who pick up at any of these three locations, which means receive $100 off the total season.

*Members MUST pick up their shares within the allotted time frame for their pick up location or forfeit their share for the week.

Going on Vacation? You may hold your box by request, and we’ll credit $20 to your account that week. Requests must be made by midnight the Sunday before delivery. The extra credit you receive can be used to purchase additional items in our online store. Any leftover credit at the end of the season does not carry over.


It’s called CSA - Community Supported Agriculture - for a reason. We encourage all of our members to be active participants in the farm! Read our weekly CSA newsletter (filled with seasonal recipes, tips & inspiration), be in touch- email or call with your comments/concerns/suggestions, and come out to the farm for one of our CSA potlucks & tours. As a member, you’ll also receive a 10% discount on all classes we offer at the farm.

CANCELLATION & Refund Policy

If you are at any point not 100% satisfied with what you received in your box that week, email us and we be sure to replace it the following week.

If for some reason you need to cancel your CSA subscription (say, you move away), email us at info@humbleumbelfarm.com

Refunds are made on a pro-rated basis once the CSA begins.
